Juba, June 20, 2026 – His Excellency, President Salva Kiir Mayardit today visited the J1 construction site to personally assess progress following his directive to resume the project.

The President toured the site following the order of resumption, inspecting the works now underway after an eighteen-month halt. He was joined by Hon. Marik Nanga Marik, Chief Administrator in the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, and Hon. James Deng Wal, Executive Director in the Office of the President, who have been leading oversight of the accelerated phase.

The J1 project, ordered back into motion by President Kiir after a high-level meeting with the Oversight Committee, is set for completion in September 2027. The visit reaffirmed the President’s personal commitment to seeing the work through and to delivering modernized administrative infrastructure for South Sudan.
