JUBA, June 19, 2026 — His Excellency, President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Friday held a meeting with Vice President for the Economic Cluster, Dr. James Wani Igga, to discuss critical matters affecting the country and preparations for the upcoming elections.

During the meeting, Dr. Igga welcomed President Kiir and congratulated him on the successful completion of his recent visit to the Bahr el Ghazal region, which drew significant public participation and engagement.

The discussions focused on key national issues and strategies aimed at strengthening stability and governance across the country.

H.E. President Kiir further directed the Vice President and Chairperson of the Economic Cluster, H.E. Dr. James Wani Igga, to provide leadership in developing tangible and practical solutions to the salary crisis affecting civil servants and government employees. The President emphasized the urgency of the matter and called on the Economic Cluster to work closely with relevant institutions to identify sustainable measures that will facilitate the timely payment of salaries and improve the welfare of public servants across the country.

As Chairman of the SPLM, President Kiir directed Vice President Igga to lead delegations to various states as part of efforts to prepare citizens for the forthcoming elections.

The initiative is expected to enhance public awareness and mobilisation ahead of the electoral process, while reinforcing the government’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful and inclusive democratic exercise.
