JUBA, APRIL 17, 2026 — His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit has called on the new leadership of the South Sudan’s Transitional National Legislative Assembly (TNLA) to lead with integrity and discipline while serving the people of South Sudan.
This came when the new leadership of the TNLA, Speaker Rt. Hon. Joseph Ngere Paciko, Deputy Speaker Hon. Abuk Payiti Ayik and SPLM Chief Whip Hon. Tulio Odongi Ayahu paid a courtesy call on the president on Friday.
During the meeting, the president congratulated the delegation on their appointment to lead the parliament. The President expressed full confidence in the ability of the two top legislators to provide strong, effective, and stable leadership to the National Assembly.
Rt. Hon. Ngere assured the president of their firm resolve to uphold discipline, efficiency, transparency, and accountability within the parliament and to ensure that the legislative agenda remains aligned with broader national interests.
