Juba, April 27, 2026 — His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit has received a general briefing from the Governor of Upper Nile, Jacob Dollar Ruot, on the implementation of presidential directives aimed at restoring peace across the state.

Governor Dollar informed the President that significant progress has been made, and stability has improved. He explained that initial uncertainty among communities has eased as government presence and peace efforts became more visible, leading to increased confidence and residents choosing to remain in their areas.

The governor highlighted ongoing challenges and requested additional support to strengthen service delivery and ensure adequate resources for both security forces and civilians. He assured the President of his continued commitment to protecting peace and fostering unity, emphasising ongoing community engagement and peace mobilisation efforts. He also expressed appreciation for the formation of local government structures over the past seven months, which he said has contributed to improved coordination and stability.

H.E. President Kiir commended the progress made and reiterated his directive for sustained peace efforts. He urged the governor to continue working closely with national ministers representing Upper Nile to ensure unity of purpose and a coordinated approach toward lasting peace and stability in the state and across the country.
