Juba, April 15, 2026 – The President of the Republic, His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit has received an Award of Honour from Dr. John Garang Memorial University of Science and Technology in recognition of his efforts to promote peace and advance national infrastructure.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Abraham Matoc Dhal praised the President’s leadership, highlighting progress in road and bridge construction as key to improving mobility and boosting economic activity. He also expressed appreciation for the President’s role in supporting the university and his continued commitment to the education sector.

H.E. President Kiir, in turn, commended the University’s leadership for its forward-looking approach, noting achievements made in partnership with the World Bank and African Development Bank, including new laboratories, scholarships for students, and improved ICT facilities on campus.
