Juba, April 30, 2026 — His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit has confirmed the appointment of Simon Deng Akook as South Sudan’s Ambassador to the Republic of South Africa, in a move to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties.

Speaking during the send-off in Juba, the President described the Republic of South Africa as a key partner and urged the new envoy to build stronger relations based on cooperation, mutual respect, and shared growth. He emphasised the need to expand engagement in trade, investment, and regional collaboration.

Ambassador Deng Akook expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and pledged to represent the Republic of South Sudan with dedication. He committed to strengthening bilateral ties and advancing the country’s interests abroad.
