Juba, April 30, 2026 — The Minister of Presidential Affairs, Hon. Africano Mande Gedima, has held talks with the United Nations Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, Guang Cong, focusing on strengthening cooperation between the Government of South Sudan and the UN.

Cong emphasised the importance of collaboration between South Sudan and neighbouring Sudan to advance progress on key benchmarks linked to the future renewal of the mandate of the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei, commonly known as UNISFA.

The envoy highlighted that meeting these benchmarks is critical for stability in Abyei and for continued global support.

Cong also reassured the government of the United Nations’ commitment to working closely with Juba to address outstanding concerns and promote peace and development.
