JUBA, July 13, 2026 — The President of the Republic His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit on Monday received a congratulatory message from Israeli President Isaac Herzog marking South Sudan’s 15th Independence Anniversary, in a gesture underscoring the growing ties between the two countries.
The message was delivered by Israel’s ambassador to South Sudan, Gershon Kedar, during a meeting with President Kiir at the State House. Ambassador Kedar was accompanied by South Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. James Pitia Morgan.
Ambassador Kedar said he also briefed President Kiir on the minister’s recent visit to Israel, where Dr. Morgan held talks with senior Israeli officials aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
Kedar said that during Minister Morgan’s visit, the two sides discussed expanding cooperation in key fields, including agriculture, healthcare, and sports, as part of broader efforts to strengthen relations between South Sudan and Israel.
The diplomat noted that his government continues to support South Sudan’s agricultural development through a training program that provides South Sudanese students with practical internship opportunities in Israel.
