
Djibouti City, May 9, 2026 – The President of the Republic, His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit, joined other world leaders at the inauguration ceremony of the President of Djibouti, Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, who commenced another term of leadership amid an impressive show of regional solidarity and diplomatic engagement.
The ceremony, which took place Saturday at the Djibouti International Conference Center, featured several key participants from across the African continent, reflecting the growing role of Djibouti as a regional player in politics, economics, and security.
President Kiir’s attendance signals the depth of ties between Juba and Djibouti City, particularly in diplomacy, trade, and regional peace-building efforts.
