Kampala, May 10, 2026 – The President of the Republic, His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit, has arrived in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, to attend Tuesday’s inauguration of President-elect Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who is beginning his seventh term.

While in Kampala, Kiir will hold bilateral meetings with host President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni aimed at deepening ties between South Sudan and Uganda and addressing critical regional matters.

President Yoweri Museveni was re-elected for a seventh term during the general elections held on January 15, 2026, winning the presidency with 71.65 percent of the vote.
