
JUBA, JUNE 1, 2026— President Salva Kiir Mayardit has directed the Government of Central Equatoria State to strengthen security measures and ensure a peaceful environment as South Sudan prepares for the upcoming national elections.
The directive came during a meeting on Monday in which Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony briefed the president on the security situation and the state’s preparedness for the electoral process.
Governor Adil informed the President that preparations for the elections are progressing steadily across the state, with communities mobilising and getting ready to participate in the democratic exercise. He noted that state authorities are working closely with relevant institutions to ensure that citizens are adequately prepared for the various stages of the electoral process.
President Kiir urged the people of Central Equatoria to remain committed to peace and actively follow the electoral timetable yet to be announced by the National Elections Commission.
President Kiir further instructed authorities and security organs in Central Equtoria to intensify efforts aimed at maintaining law and order, safeguarding communities, and creating conditions conducive to the smooth conduct of the forthcoming polls.
