JUBA, JUNE 1, 2026 — President Salva Kiir Mayardit has encouraged the Governor of Western Equatoria State to intensify efforts aimed at promoting peace, reconciliation, and community cohesion to restore the state’s long-standing reputation as one of the country’s most peaceful regions.

The president was speaking on Monday after receiving a briefing from Governor Daniel Badagbu Rimbasa on the security situation and the overall progress of development and governance in the state.

Rimbasa confirmed that peace has slowly returned to Tombura, Yambio, and Mundri counties, which had recently experienced disturbances.
