JUBA — South Sudan’s rural electrification program has reached a major milestone, connecting over 50 communities to the national power grid for the first time. The expansion is part of the government’s commitment to increasing energy access across the country.

The Rural Electrification Agency reported that solar mini-grids are being deployed in areas where grid extension is not feasible. The program has created local jobs and improved access to education and healthcare services in rural areas.
