KUAJOK, JUNE 6, 2026 — The President of the Republic, His Excellency General Salva Kiir Mayardit, on Saturday addressed thousands of residents gathered at Kuajok Freedom Square, thanking the people of Warrap State for the warm and enthusiastic welcome accorded to him during his visit.

The rally brought together traditional leaders, women, youth, state officials, and community representatives who turned out in large numbers to welcome the Head of State.

Introducing the President, the Vice President and Chairperson of the Service Cluster, H.E. Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, underscored the importance of preserving peace and stability across the country. He urged citizens to continue supporting ongoing peace efforts and emphasized that national unity remains essential as South Sudan prepares for the conduct of elections in December 2026.

Speaking before the gathering, President Kiir reaffirmed the government’s commitment to peace, stability, and the full implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement.

“I am happy to be here and to speak to you today,” President Kiir told the crowd. “As I said yesterday, my visit is a private one, but I am pleased to see all of you gathered here. I have listened to your concerns, and I have heard your voices.”

The President emphasized that maintaining peace remains the government’s foremost priority, stressing that the peace agreement must culminate in the conduct of democratic elections scheduled for December 2026.

“What we want as a government in Juba is simple: peace must prevail. Our biggest priority is to ensure that the agreement is implemented and that it ends with elections in December 2026. Elections are the peaceful way through which citizens choose their leaders, and every South Sudanese must prepare to participate.”

H.E. President Kiir also encouraged citizens to embrace agriculture as the most practical path toward reducing poverty, improving livelihoods, and strengthening food security.

“Do not worry about things that are beyond your control. Focus on cultivation and producing food,” the President said. “South Sudan has fertile land and enough resources to feed its people. If we work hard on our farms, we can defeat poverty, support our families, and build a stronger economy for our country.”

The rally featured remarks from representatives of the youth, women, and traditional leadership. They expressed appreciation for the President’s visit and appealed for additional support to strengthen youth mobilization efforts. Paramount Chief Sultan Thon Malwal Thon welcomed the President and commended efforts by both the national and state governments in maintaining peace and stability.

Governor Bol Wek Agoth highlighted progress made in restoring security and strengthening governance across the state. He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to supporting the national peace process and preparations for the upcoming elections.

The visit forms part of President Kiir’s private stay in his home region, while also providing an opportunity for him to interact directly with citizens and hear their concerns firsthand.
