AKON, JUNE 6, 2026 — From Kuajok through Gogrial and all the way to Akon, the roads were lined with thousands of well-wishers as His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit journeyed home to the land of his ancestors.

Young and old gathered along the route, waving, singing, and cheering as the President’s convoy passed by. They came out not because they were asked to, but because a son was returning home.

One remarkable moment captured the attention of many along the journey. A dove settled atop the presidential vehicle in Kuajok and remained there throughout the entire trip, accompanying the President all the way to Akon. Witnessed by countless citizens along the route, the rare sight became a memorable symbol of peace, blessing, and homecoming.

As communities lined the roads in celebration, the journey from Kuajok to Akon became more than a drive home, it became a powerful display of unity, affection, and the enduring bond between the people and their President.
