WASHINGTON DC, United States on June 15, 2025. Today is Monday, June 16th, 2025, and we have some breaking news regarding U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration.

According to an internal State Department cable seen by Reuters, the administration is considering expanding its travel restrictions by potentially banning citizens of 36 additional countries from entering the United States. Earlier this month, President Trump signed a proclamation banning citizens from 12 countries, citing national security threats.

In a diplomatic cable signed by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the State Department outlined concerns about the 36 countries in question and sought corrective action. Some of the reasons for concern included the lack of reliable identity documents, questionable security of passports, and non-cooperation in facilitating the removal of nationals ordered to leave the U.S.

The countries that could face a full or partial ban if they do not address these concerns within the next 60 days include Angola, Egypt, Ghana, Syria, and Zimbabwe, among others. This expansion would add to the list of countries already affected by the travel restrictions that came into effect earlier this month.

During his first term in office, President Trump announced a ban on travelers from seven Muslim-majority nations, which was upheld by the Supreme Court in 2018. The administration is committed to upholding national security and public safety through the visa process.
