Kiir Makes Changes in Trade and Water Resources Ministries

The President of the Republic of South Sudan, General Salva Kiir Mayardit, issued presidential decrees late yesterday evening, Monday, June 16, 2025, involving ministerial changes in the portfolios of Trade and Industry and Water Resources and Irrigation, as part of the government’s efforts to enhance institutional performance.
The changes included the reappointment of Mr. Asher Monyut, who previously served as Undersecretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industry before being suspended, to now assume the position of Undersecretary of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.
At the same time, Kiir appointed Mr. Yel Lual Kor, the former Administrative Director in the Office of the President, as the new Undersecretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, in a move aimed at strengthening government work in the economic and developmental sectors.
This ministerial reshuffle comes as part of a series of changes the government is undertaking to enhance administrative efficiency and improve ministerial performance.
