Statement from the Government of South Sudan on Recent Deportation Incident
Statement from the Government of South Sudan on Recent Deportation Incident
until further notice. The Government of South Sudan is deeply concerned about the recent deportation of a non-South Sudanese national by the United States to our country. We would like to clarify that this individual was not a citizen of South Sudan, and that they were using false South Sudanese names in order to enter the United States.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation had issued emergency travel documents for a group of 21 deportees, including two individuals who were not South Sudanese. We are working closely with the relevant authorities to investigate how these individuals were able to obtain South Sudanese travel documents illegally.
In response to this incident, the United States has revoked the visas of all South Sudanese passport holders until further notice. We understand the need for security measures in these challenging times, and we are committed to working with the United States to address any concerns they may have.
We urge all South Sudanese citizens to comply with immigration laws and regulations in order to avoid any further disruptions to travel between our two countries. We will continue to work with the United States and other international partners to ensure the safety and security of all individuals within our borders.
