JUBA, NOVEMBER 4, 2026 – The President of the Republic, His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday received a briefing from the Caretaker Minister of Finance and Planning, Hon. Athian Diing Athian, following the Minister’s recent official engagements in the United States.

During the visit, Minister Athian delivered a letter from President Kiir to the United States Government, extending an invitation for the US Government and American investors to explore investment opportunities in South Sudan.

The proposed areas of cooperation include oil and gas, agriculture, mining, wildlife conservation, tourism and energy, sectors identified as offering opportunities for investment and mutually beneficial economic partnerships.

The Minister described the engagements as fruitful and indicated that further visits to the United States are expected, providing an opportunity to continue discussions with the US Government on matters of mutual interest.

The engagements reflect South Sudan’s continued efforts to strengthen its international economic partnerships, attract foreign investment and explore opportunities for cooperation that can support economic growth, diversification and national development.
