President Kiir Receives DPOC Briefing as Oil Production Surpasses 100,000 Barrels Per Day

JUBA, July 8, 2026 – President of the Republic, H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit, today received a briefing from the management of Dar Petroleum Operating Company (DPOC) on the company’s operational performance, with officials reporting a significant increase in crude oil production and continued investment in national development.

During the meeting at the Presidency in Juba, the DPOC management informed the President that crude oil production in Blocks 3 and 7 has increased from 90,000 barrels per day to more than 100,000 barrels per day, surpassing the company’s annual production target and reaching its highest output level in the past three years.

“We have more than 170 producers or have wells, which have been reactivated, and total available producers are about 720. Online producers have hit 705, the highest record of DPOC, ” the company’s president said.

The delegation noted that DPOC currently contributes approximately 65 percent of South Sudan’s total oil production, underscoring the company’s central role in supporting the country’s economy and the government’s revenue generation.

The delegation was led by Dr. Ling Zhaohong, President of DPOC, and included Atak Santino Majak, Vice President of DPOC, and Wang Chun, General Manager for Finance and Services.

The company also briefed the President on its ongoing staff localisation and capacity-building programme, saying it has established short- and medium-term training initiatives aimed at developing skilled South Sudanese professionals to take on greater leadership roles within the petroleum industry.

Beyond oil production, DPOC highlighted its corporate social responsibility initiatives, noting that it allocates 22 million USD annually to community development programmes in education, healthcare, agriculture, and the provision of clean drinking water across its areas of operation.

The company’s management also expressed appreciation to the Managing Director of Nilepet for clearing all outstanding cash call payments over the past year, describing the achievement as an important step in strengthening operational efficiency and sustaining production growth.

The meeting reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the petroleum sector as a key driver of economic growth and national development.
