JUBA, August 5, 2026 — President Salva Kiir Mayardit has received full backing from Greater Bor legislators as South Sudan prepares for its general elections scheduled for December this year.
This came in a meeting with a delegation, led by SPLM Political Bureau member Kuol Manyang Juuk, met with President Kiir in Juba to brief him on the political and security situation in Jonglei State. The lawmakers said the people of the state are ready to participate in the upcoming elections and commended the president for his efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Isaiah Hakim Garang called on SPLM members and residents of Jonglei to register as voters and actively participate in the electoral process. He also urged the electorate to support President Kiir and the SPLM in the forthcoming polls.
The meeting comes as political parties and stakeholders continue preparations for the December general elections, which are expected to mark a significant milestone in South Sudan’s democratic process.
