President Kiir and Malik Agar Discuss Strengthening Economic and Security Cooperation Between Juba and Khartoum

Juba – August 11, 2025 – President of the Republic of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, on Monday received the Deputy Chairman of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Malik Agar Ir, to discuss ways of enhancing bilateral relations between South Sudan and Sudan, with a focus on developing economic and security cooperation, according to a statement by the Media Unit at the Office of the President.
South Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ramadan Mohamed Abdallah, said in a press briefing after the meeting that the talks covered strengthening comprehensive economic ties between the two countries. He added that the Sudanese delegation briefed President Kiir on the security and economic situation in Sudan, in addition to discussing issues of peace and regional security.
Minister Abdallah reaffirmed South Sudan’s commitment to further strengthening friendly relations with Sudan, saying: “We assured our brothers and sisters in Sudan of Juba’s unwavering commitment to peaceful cooperation and joint development.”
For his part, Sudan’s Ambassador to South Sudan, Issam Mohamed Hassan Karar, stressed his country’s keenness to move forward in developing relations with Juba in all fields.
