The Office of the President continues to drive the national agenda under the leadership of H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit. This latest engagement reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to advancing South Sudan’s developmental and peace objectives as the nation prepares for its upcoming democratic transition.

JUBA, September 25, 2026 — His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit has held separate meetings with former Burundian President and African Union Panel of the Wise member Domitien Ndayizeye, and the President of the Community of Sant’Egidio, Marco Impagliazzo, as South Sudan’s inter-party dialogue continues in Juba.

H.E. President Kiir said the success of the dialogue will be critical to consolidating peace and stability and creating the necessary conditions for the country’s planned elections.

During his meeting with President Kiir, former President Ndayizeye congratulated the President and the people of South Sudan for taking the initiative to advance the country’s democratic transition and pursue lasting peace, security and democracy through elections.

Ndayizeye said the African Union supports the process and continues to encourage the Government to ensure the meaningful participation of all political parties and national stakeholders.

President Kiir also welcomed the participation of the Community of Sant’Egidio in the inter-party dialogue, describing the Rome-based Catholic community’s presence as a demonstration of continued international solidarity with South Sudan’s peace process and political transition.

The President commended Impagliazzo for traveling to Juba to attend the opening of the dialogue and recognized Sant’Egidio’s longstanding engagement in South Sudan’s peace efforts.

Impagliazzo reaffirmed Sant’Egidio’s commitment to peace and dialogue, saying the community’s presence in Juba represents its continued solidarity with the people of South Sudan and its confidence in dialogue as the path toward resolving political differences.

The meetings underscored the importance of inclusive dialogue and sustained regional and international engagement as South Sudan advances toward the December elections. The government maintains that dialogue remains central to resolving national challenges, consolidating peace, and enabling political differences to be addressed peacefully.
