AWEIL, JUNE 9, 2026 – Northern Bahr el Ghazal turned out in remarkable numbers to welcome the President of the Republic, His Excellency Salva Kiir Mayardit, as he continued his visit through the Bahr el Ghazal region.

From Madhol at the state border, through Wanyjok, Akuem, Ajaj, Aulic, and all the way into Aweil town, thousands of citizens lined the roads, waving flags, singing traditional songs, and chanting, “Kiir, Kiir is our President.”

The streets were filled with jubilant crowds, cultural performers, and traditional dance groups who came together to celebrate the arrival of the President and the delegation accompanying him.

The scenes witnessed across Northern Bahr el Ghazal reflected the strong bond between the people and their leader, as communities turned out in unity and solidarity to welcome the Head of State.
