The National Oil and Gas Company of South Sudan, “Nilepet,” announced that it is close to finalizing a strategic agreement with Russia’s “Rosneft” to implement joint projects, including the construction of pipelines and oil refineries in the country.
The announcement came during a South Sudanese delegation’s participation in the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, where Kamal Mabok, a member of the delegation, confirmed that the two parties had signed a memorandum of understanding as a step toward the final agreement. He noted that technical teams are currently working to complete the technical and legal details.
Rosneft, one of the world’s largest energy companies, is expected to undertake the projects once the agreement is signed. This move aims to enhance South Sudan’s oil infrastructure and enable the country to transport and refine oil domestically, contributing to national economic growth.
This deal is part of South Sudan’s efforts to attract foreign investment for energy sector development and strengthen cooperation with leading global companies in the field.
