NPA’s Bold Move Towards Peace: South Sudan Alliance Takes Charge with Groundbreaking Proposal

Gen/ Philip Stephen Dak Onwar, Member of the Leadership Council of the National Parties Alliance (NPA) and Chairman of the South Sudan United National Front/Army (SSUNF/A), presented the alliance’s vision for peace, reconciliation, and inclusive national dialogue in South Sudan to the Chairperson of the African Union Commission and the Chairperson of the Peace and Security of the African Union on May 12, 2025.
The vision includes the participation of all opposition movements and political parties, both inside and outside the country, and the Transitional Government of South Sudan, to find radical solutions to the causes of war, conflict, and crises under the auspices of the African Union, IGAD, international organizations, the United Nations, the European Union, and the Troika countries.
The goal is to help the people of South Sudan achieve stability, peace, and social harmony, and to entrench democratic values. The National Parties Alliance (NPA) is committed to inclusive national dialogue, South-South dialogue, without excluding any party, to achieve sustainable peace in South Sudan.
The Leadership Council of the National Parties Alliance (NPA) took a significant step towards peace and reconciliation in South Sudan by initiating direct engagement with the African Union (AU), IGAD, and other members of the international community. On Monday, a delegation from the NPA traveled to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to deliver a document outlining the alliance’s vision for achieving lasting peace in South Sudan.
