President Salva Kiir Mayardit. This latest engagement reflects the government&#8217;s ongoing commitment to advancing South Sudan&#8217;s developmental and peace objectives as the nation prepares for its upcoming democratic transition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-drop-cap\">JUBA, October 1, 2026 &mdash; His Excellency, President Salva Kiir Mayardit has directed the Caretaker Governor of Lakes State, Rin Tuen Mabor, to prepare the state for the upcoming elections and mobilise communities to embrace peace and stability.<\/p>\n<p>The directive places electoral preparedness and peaceful coexistence among the Governor&rsquo;s immediate priorities as he returns to Lakes State. His administration will engage communities, strengthen the conditions necessary for the electoral process and encourage citizens to participate in choosing their leaders.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Rin reaffirmed the Government&rsquo;s commitment to holding elections that are peaceful, credible and transparent.
