I am confident that your discussions have achieved these objectives,&#8221; President Kiir said.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the resolutions adopted during the summit provide a solid foundation for the party&#8217;s upcoming National Convention and the drafting of its election manifesto. The president also directed SPLM chairpersons across the country to return to their respective states and counties to mobilise grassroots support and spearhead the nationwide membership registration campaign.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As you return to your places of duty, carry the message of election readiness to the grassroots. Mobilise our people and drive the SPLM membership registration,&#8221; he urged.<\/p>\n<p>The summit also praised President Kiir for his continued commitment to peace and appealed to communities across the country to embrace reconciliation and work collectively to promote peaceful coexistence as the nation approaches the elections.<\/p>\n<p>In a key political decision, the leadership unanimously nominated President Kiir for re-election as SPLM Chairman at the forthcoming National Convention and endorsed him as the party&#8217;s sole presidential candidate for the December 2026 general elections.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting saw the signing of the SPLM Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedures, the official launch of the party&#8217;s nationwide membership registration exercise, and the unveiling of the SPLM&#8217;s official website.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The summit ended with a united call for peace, national unity, and increased political participation as the nation moves toward what is expected to be a landmark general election in December this year.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><em>Source: Office of the President, Republic of South Sudan.
