He will be laid to rest on Friday, 15 May 2026, in his hometown in Warrap State.<\/p>\n<p>Remembered as a dedicated patriot and a pillar of South Sudan&rsquo;s legal institutions, Justice Thiik made significant contributions to the liberation struggle and played a central role in shaping the country&rsquo;s judicial framework. He served as Chief Justice from 2005 to 2007 and previously chaired the SPLM Judiciary and Legal System from 1988 to 2004.<\/p>\n<p>His passing is a profound loss to the nation and to the legal fraternity of South Sudan.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><em>Source: Office of the President, Republic of South Sudan.
