JUBA, JUNE 19, 2026 – The Council of Ministers, chaired by President of the Republic His Excellency General Salva Kiir Mayardit, has approved key reforms in the energy and transport sectors while directing further action on challenges related to salary payments and broader economic management.<\/p>\n
During its regular sitting on Friday, the Cabinet approved a memorandum presented by the Minister of Energy and Dams, Hon. Agok Makur Kur, on the proposed organisational structure of the Ministry of Energy and Dams.<\/span><\/p>\n The new structure establishes clearly defined directorates, departments, and administrative units aimed at strengthening institutional efficiency, improving coordination, and addressing longstanding gaps in organisational arrangements and job descriptions within the ministry.<\/span><\/p>\n Following deliberations, the Council unanimously endorsed the proposal and resolved to forward it to the Transitional National Legislative Assembly for consideration and approval.<\/span><\/p>\n In a separate agenda item, the Cabinet approved the National Transport Policy Framework presented by the Minister of Transport, Hon. Rizik Zakaria Hassan.<\/span><\/p>\n The policy provides a comprehensive framework to guide the development, regulation, and modernization of the country’s transport sector, with the objective of improving connectivity, enhancing safety standards, and supporting economic growth across South Sudan.
